Battlefield 1942 is a tactical first-person shooter developed by Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts. The game is set in World War II and combined every aspect of WWII warfare like air, infantry, sea or tank combat.

Where can I get it?

After the Gamespy shutdown in 2014, EA dropped the support/sale of the classic Battlefield games. So, have to get it from Amazon or Ebay. Alternativ you can find a download link by just google it.

Multiplayer after 2014?

The Official servers were shut down in June 2014. To play it now online you have 2 options. You play it either on Gameranger or change the games masterserver with a community patch.

Issues with the Game?

How to play it on Windows 10/11?

You have to install the Legacy Components and enable DirectPlay. To do that go Control Panel, look for Programs and Features and Turn Windows features on or off.

How to change manually the master server? Go to %WINDIR%\System32\drivers\etc\. Open hosts with an editor like Notepad. Add the line 109.71.69.254 master.gamespy.com and save the file. PunkBuster nowdays?

PunkBuster in BF1942 has been discontinued and most servers do not have it enabled. So I would recommended to move the content of <path-to-game>/pb/ to a backup folder, to avoid any disconnects.
