Preserving the digital heritage of our favorite games, one file at a time.

The Mission

For the past few years, I have had the incredible privilege of interviewing game and mod developers, speedrunners, and community leaders. During those conversations, a clear and alarming pattern emerged: so much of our PC gaming history is disappearing.

Old community websites go offline, legacy mods are lost to dead hard drives, and the stories of the players and veterans who built these foundational communities fade away.

The PC Gaming Shelter was constructed to stop that loss. This is a dedicated media wiki functioning as a digital vault. Here, we archive information on mods, document the histories of active and dead clans, catalog upcoming events across various genres, and provide a permanent home for the legacy of PC gaming.

The Archivist

Alias: Captain Sedaris

I am a content creator, father of two daughters, and a part-time nurse. I dedicate my free time during the week to researching, video editing, and building this archive to ensure our gaming history survives.

Live Broadcasts & Video Archives

Beyond the written wiki, the PC Gaming Shelter is fueled by active discussions and gameplay on my Twitch and YouTube channels. We regularly host:

  • Developer Interviews & Round Tables: Deep dives with industry veterans, special game anniversaries, and dedicated Star Trek and Star Wars discussions.
  • Modern Install Guides: Hosted on our dedicated PC Gaming Shelter YouTube channel, helping you get classic games and mods running on current Windows operating systems and the Steam Deck.
  • Live Series: Join me for Beating the Pile of Shame (Tues/Thurs), Journey through the MMO Landscape (Monday nights), Exploring Survival Games (Tuesday nights), and regular Sunday Coop and Casual game nights.

Help Us Expand the Vault

This archive cannot be built alone. If you are a developer with old design documents, a player with a hard drive full of rare mods, or just someone who wants to help catalog history, we need you.
